Act VIII: OTTOMAN SHOW
In 1071 AD, Turks entered to Anatolia from middle Asia and started to settle to the
various parts. At around 13th century AD they occupied large part of Anatolia and had a
leader called Osman.
The Turcoman under the leadership of Osman were striking root in Anatolia. The
Byzantium Empire started worrying about these settlements despite Turcomans being
nomad and shepherd communities. Osman Bey continuously expanding by capturing more
towns and villages. Byzantium leaders wanted to catch Osman Bey, but he was very
elusive.
Two Byzantium prince’s decided to set a trap to catch Osman Bey . The daughter of prince
Yarhisar , Holophyra, is engaged to be married to the son of prince Bilecik . The two princes
Yarhisar and Bilecik decided to invite Osman Bey to the wedding. They plotted to capture Osman Bey at Yarhisar where the
wedding was due to take place.
Osman Bey sensed the plot, so he said that if they had the wedding in Bilecik he could come.
The two princes accepted Osman’s suggestion and arranged for the bride to travel to Bilecik.
However, while the bride was journeying from Yarhisar to Bilecik, Osman Bey's soldiers
attacked and had princess Holophyra kidnapped by his son Orhan.
Holophyra found her self on the back of Orhan Bey’s horse, the son of Osman Bey headed for
the town of Ottoman city named Sogut. A wedding ceremony was prepared in Sogut where
there was another wedding being prepared with another man.
Scene1 . Orhan & Holyphira (Nilufer) enter the stage , a wedding party, playing music and dancing. Holyphira shocked. Orhan sings ‘I just can’t let you go’ song.
Scene2. Osman bey, Orhan, Nilufer, other family members sitting around a sini having supper. Nilufer drinks wine and gets tipsy then expresses outbursts of her feelings.
Scene3. Orhan & Nilufer enter stage where Nilufer’s father’s castle picture at the back.Nilufer walks away , Orhan sings ‘Nilufer’ song. She comes back then both sing ‘Anatolia I love you Anatolia’ song and dance.
